Teaching & Discipleship, Development Group - Draft Plan
Aim
To be at church that lives the Gospel, that is, develops in all members a spiritually mature lifestyle by which we glorify God and serve others.

Establish two new home groups (in progress)

Teaching & Discipleship group to meet on a regular basis

Purchase Advent candle/crown

Teaching
Develop an outline five year teaching programme for Sunday and mid-week learning for both adults and young people to include material both theological & practical and, in terms of sermons, a balance of thematic & bible book based material.

Use Lent as a major home based learning opportunity

Run practical training type courses as an alternative/ supplement to home groups

Develop the role of the All Age learning co-ordinator

Organise an annual survey, using home groups and other channels, to review the previous years programme

Annual (pre-summer) planning by Dev Group and preachers etc. to prepare for year ahead

Communication
Work towards the introduction of more interactive material in morning services, if only occasionally.

Develop web-site as a major resource e.g. downloadable sermons and study materials

Annual meeting of Teaching & Discipleship group + preachers & other interested parties to outline following years programme.

Utilise the Church's year as an aid to teaching e.g. the use of particular occasions and colours.

Arrange communications training for all preachers inc. clergy.

Development & Training
Appoint Development Officer

Establish proper bookstall with manager

Set up resource centre in the new building

Noticeboard/ information point for training

Establish annual Ministry & Training Fair

Possible use of Mentors, Spiritual Directors
