Today Patches and Zenaida celebrate their first wedding anniversary and Patches sends us news that he has been offered a curacy in Chester at St Michael's plus Newton and Christ Church with the Revd Canon Robert Peters.

' Sweet Tastes of Heaven'
Our next event for women will be a pudding tasting event. This will be on Friday 1st October from 7.30 - 9.30 and held (hopefully) in the Upper Room. We would like you to volunteer your favourite recipe to be included in a recipe book. The first 15 people to submit their recipe will be asked to make and bring their pudding to the event and will receive a free ticket! Tickets will be on sale in September for 3 pounds, which includes a copy of the recipe book. If you would like to take part please see John Berry.

London Triathlon
Mike says, 'Support them & support me' St Cuthbert's is a small, but active church with a multi-racial congregation in an area of spiritual and physical need. Last Sunday I took part in the London Triathlon (Olympic distance) on their behalf (3hrs 36mins). Please pick up a leaflet from the foyer, it's not too late to help. NB you can browse the pictures even if you are not on Facebook - email Mike and he will send you a link.

Concordia
Rev. Dr. David McCulloch and Concordia invite you to a meeting on Monday, 4 Oct 2010 at the Nazarene Theological College, Dene Road, Didsbury. Between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm Speaker: Rev. John Stevens "Mission and Morality in Post-Christian Society" covering a wide range of public policy issues including freedom of religion, sexuality, discrimination, social justice, and medical ethics. Men's Breakfast
The leaders have decided to close Men's Breakfast and replace it with a Saturday Cafe starting on 02 October 9.30 -11.30am. The aim is to make this a meeting place / contact point for local people as well as to provide back up for the Abney Run. A selection of newspapers will be available along with sausage / bacon sandwiches and a cup of tea for 1 pound. More details will follow nearer the time. NB Mike has tried to contact Men's Breakfast members to explain the decision, but is glad to speak personally with anyone he didn't manage to reach.

Abney 5K
The date for our next 5K has been provisionally set for Saturday 16 October at 9.30am. More details to follow soon.

2011 Confirmation Service
Advance notice - Bishop Robert will be joining us for our morning service on 18 September 2011 for a service of Confirmation and Affirmation. There will be preparation courses run nearer the time, but in the meantime please have a word with Mike or the Wardens if you are interested.

Facebook Group
If you wish you keep in touch with what is going on at St Cuthbert's, as well as the website we have a Facebook Group which you may like to join. This is administered by Mike, but you don't need to become a 'friend' with Mike to join (i.e. you can keep your personal photos etc private).
