Prayer Sheet June / July 2007 - St Cuthbert's / St Mary's
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
till I am wholly thine,
until this earthly part of me
glows with thy fire divine.

Confession
Daniel 9:7 - "Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered in shame because of our unfaithfulness to you"
- For turning our backs on God as a nation
- For the way the church has often compromised His Word rather than clearly proclaiming God's message to our society
- For failing to stand up for His truth
- For denying God's uniqueness
- For failing to look after His world
- For exploiting His creation
- For failing to show compassion and only caring about ourselves
- For not caring about the lost
- For standing by in silence while laws are passed that both contravene God's standards and threaten our freedom as Christians
- For neglecting our personal relationships with Him
Prayer
Daniel 9:18 - "We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy"
To pray effectively we need to be informed - read the papers, listen to the news, take an interest in our nation.
The Nation
Pray for
- Our Queen and the Royal Family
- Our political leaders at this time of change (Gordon Brown, Alex Salmond, Ian Paisley, Rhodri Morgan) together with all
elected representatives in our Parliaments, Assemblies and Councils, that they would seek God's way for our nation
- Church leaders of all denominations that they would be quick to speak out and let our society know what God has to say about how we should live
- All in positions of responsibility who can influence society for good or evil - in the media, law enforcement, education, the arts
- Peace and security in our land
- Our role in the community of nations, that we would follow God's leading and show His way to the world
- Christians in our land to take a lead in the affairs of our nation, rather than abdicating our responsibilities
- Revival in our land, beginning with ourselves as individuals and spreading through the churches to the people
- A real concern for the disadvantaged
- A real desire to be responsible for the things God has given us
- Our witness to our nation, that God's name might be glorified once again
The National Ministries Department
As the main evangelistic arm of YFC's ministry, this team of people include those serving in mission teams across the country.
Please pray for yfcone, which works alongside local churches and YFC centres, doing schools work and missions using dance, drama and music.
Other mission teams 'on the road' are the sports teams - Kick, Fly and Skate and the creative arts teams - Activate, Kurios and the TVB band.
These teams are made up of year out volunteers - pray for them as they come to the end of their year and also for young people (17+)
as they consider joining these teams in September.
Church Resource Department
This team serves the local church, right across the denominations, providing resources and support for effective Christian youthwork - from evangelism through to discipleship.
Please pray for their work nurturing local youth workers in the daunting task of reaching and keeping the younger generation for God.
At St Cuthbert's we use Rock Solid and Mettle teaching materials and are actively involved with YFC Holidays.
